Thursday, March 29, 2012 - enhanced forest biomass utilization

Forest Powerwas a cross‐border research and development project (2009-2012) between Finland, Sweden and Norway which aimed to increase the utilization of forest biomass in the Botnia‐Atlantica area. The project aimed to increase the value and quality of products and services within the forest fuel supply, feed-stock conversion and combustion chains. It also aimed to increase the general knowledge about the renewable forest energy sources and utilization within the Botnia-Atlantica area. Through intensive research, development and extension work project Forest Power also promoted EU's RES directive's target to increase the share of the renewable energy of the total energy consumption in European Union up to 20 %. The target groups of the project include forest owners, heating plant managers, machine entrepreneurs and other forestry professionals.

The project has now ended and there is a lot of information available on their website. You find the information by following this LINK.
